President Kevin J Worthen, following approval from the BYU Board of Trustees, has appointed Rosemary Thackeray as assistant to the president for planning and assessment at Brigham Young University. Thackeray will replace James D. Gordon III, who after 35 years of service to the university will be retiring.

College of life sciences dean James Porter has appointed Richard Gill as the new biology department chair. Gill researches the effects of elevated carbon dioxide, climate change, fire and biotic invasions in ecosystems both in Utah and around the world. He replaces Keoni Kauwe, the new dean of graduate studies.
