"Wise Planning Is the Key to Your Academic Success"
Wise planning and careful preparation are essential to your academic success during your time at Brigham Young University. You have been accepted to this wonderful institution because you are bright, talented, and capable. Begin now to plan for your future by wisely choosing how you will manage your time. Brigham Young taught,
"The property
which we inherit from our Heavenly Father is our time, and the power to choose
in the disposition of the same. This is the real capital that is bequeathed
unto us by our Heavenly Father; all the rest is what he may be pleased to add
unto us."
(Journal of Discourses, 18:354)
As you look ahead, map out each semester by planning for each month, week, day, and hour. Invest some of your valuable "inheritance" in how to use the rest of it wisely. As you study hard to succeed academically, we suggest you create for yourself a rich and whole university experience by combining the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and physical into your plan. Be balanced -- work hard, have fun, grow spiritually, keep fit!
We care about you and invite you to visit the Office of Academic Advisement (379 WIDB) frequently to review your progress and to make certain you are on track for timely graduation. Our door is always wide open to you.
