Guide to Pivot-RT
About Pivot
Pivot-RT is a databased used by BYU to collect and organize research funding opportunities. It contains information about federal, private, and international grants, and allows faculty and graduate students to:
- Find new funding opportunities
- Save personalized searches
- Receive email alerts regarding changes in opportunities
- Network with potential collaborators
Searching
While you may be able to find results using the search bar, we recommend conducting an advanced search. To start, click on Advanced Search located underneath the search bar. Advanced searches allow you to search by:
- Keyword
- Either type keywords into the search bar or click on the drop-down menu to select from an expandable list
- Sponsor
- Federal
- NIH, NSF, DoD, etc.
- Corporations or private companies interested in funding research in their respective fields
- International
- Foreign organizations may offer funding
- Federal
- Applicant Type
- Faculty
- Academic institution
- Graduate student
- individual: graduate student
- Other potential options
- minority, disability, female
- Faculty
- Other
- There are many other criteria thatcan be used to filter your search
- Deadlines, Limited Submission, Citizenship, etc.

Getting Starterd
As a BYU faculty member, your account has already been created and should be ready for you to claim. To claim your account, log into Pivot with your BYU email address. It will prompt you to comfirm your identity and claim you account. Claiming your account allows you to recieve personalized funding suggestions and collaborate with potential co-investigaotrs.
Saving a Search
After selecting you search critera, you have the option to save your search. Saving your search allows you to:
- Recieve weekly email updates about new opportunities that match you search
- Easily run the same search in the future
You can find your saved searches by hovering over the home icon on the top left of your screen.
