DUE 3/13/2026 - Office of the Medical Examiner, Morgue Internship | Taylorsville, UT
The Utah Office of the Medical Examiner (OME) is offering a highly hands-on Morgue Internship for Summer 2026. This experience allows students to develop real forensic skills used in medicolegal death investigation, including documenting personal effects, forensic photography, learning thumbprinting techniques, assisting with autopsy procedures, and participating in toxicology modules. Interns may occasionally accompany an investigator to a scene, and students with specific interests can often tailor their experience accordingly. Only one student is selected per semester, making this a competitive and meaningful opportunity.
This internship is especially valuable for Life Sciences students interested in medicine, pathology, forensics, human biology, or public health. It provides rare exposure to applied anatomy, cause-of-death analysis, and forensic laboratory processes. Interested students should review the attached Morgue Internship Application Packet for full instructions and submit all required materials as outlined. Students may reapply in future semesters if not selected.
DUE 5/1/2026 - Office of the Medical Examiner, Investigations Internship | Taylorsville, UT
The Utah Office of the Medical Examiner (OME) is accepting applications for its Investigations Internship for Summer 2026. OME is a statewide agency responsible for investigating deaths that occur unexpectedly, violently, or under unknown circumstances. Interns assist with jurisdiction determination, review medical records, collect background and medical history information, and observe how investigators integrate medical, legal, and scene information to determine cause and manner of death. This role requires strong critical thinking and attention to detail.
This internship is well suited for Life Sciences students interested in healthcare, pathology, forensics, public health, or emergency response. Students gain hands-on exposure to real medicolegal casework and see how biology and health-science knowledge are applied in investigative settings. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, with one student selected per semester. Interested students should review the attached Investigations Internship Application Packet for application instructions. Students who are not selected may reapply in future semesters.
